Aileen got interested in attending college when one of her support staff was at college doing her HNC. When she came in to support Aileen, Aileen would ask her all about college and what she does there.
Aileen was interested in learning new things so we went along to New College Lanarkshire (formerly Motherwell College) for an interview. At the end of the interview the College Assistant suggested a few courses that she should try.
She now attends a ‘Food Nourishing’ course on a Tuesday morning. This course teaches you about healthy eating and how to prepare meals that are healthy for you. As part of the course Aileen gets the chance to cook and prepare things such as scones, coleslaws and scrambled eggs and she loves to get involved in this class.
She also attends ‘Crafts and Painting’ on a Thursday. Aileen told us that she likes this class as I get to express herself. The class make cards, paint, learn about textures and how colours are made. Aileen said “I really enjoy my college as I’ve made new friends and enjoy speaking to everyone.”
Keep up the good work Aileen!
