SOL is Support for Ordinary Living

SOL was founded in 1997 and incorporated as a not for profit company, limited by guarantee in February 1998.

On 1st July 1998 SOL began its active life as an organisation and by January 1999 SOL started to deliver services to men and women with learning disabilities. SOL services are designed to ensure that people are supported to live life to the full within their own homes, families and the community.

Each person has dedicated support or live-in support workers who work in a person centred way to deliver the right amount and type of support required by each individual.

SOL is Based on the Principles of Supported Living

• Supporting one person at a time

• Rejecting no-one

• Providing the people we support with as much choice and control as possible

• Supporting people to maintain and develop new and existing relationships

• Building upon the natural supports which exist in communities

• Separating housing from support
