Conference

We are delighted to be celebrating our 11th Anniversary with a SOL Conference at the Bellshill Hilton Hotel on Thursday 22 October 2009.

The headline name for our Conference will be “SOL’s Navigation to Self Directed Support” and this 11th Anniversary event will be structured around the theme of Personalisation and the development of In -Control and Self Directed Support.

SOL is a member of the In Control Advisory Group for Scotland. We also want to take the opportunity to share our innovative work on organisational change which has been necessary to respond to changing needs and demands from the people we work for and the local authority.

This is seen as an important event in the SOL calendar which provides an opportunity for the organisation to celebrate and showcase its work both past, present and future. It is our intention at this event to highlight the many important relationships and partnerships formed over the years, which have contributed to our success.

SOL is working in partnership with the events team of Community Enterprise in Scotland (CEIS), a not for profit social enterprise agency, and is benefiting from their professional assistance and support.

Carers Forum

A SOL Carers Forum has recently been established that will provide an opportunity for close collaboration alongside the opportunity for a social gathering. Issues and areas of interest have been explored over the past few months.

Over the recent months the forum has participated in discussions around In Control and person centered recruitment. Members of the forum have participated in conferences and Care Commission guidelines.

The next meeting of the Carers Forum will take place in September 2009.
